IS YOUR CAR READY FOR THE WINTER?

November 12th, 2017

As we get into winter, it’s important to know how to take care of your car in the cold weather. Follow these useful winter car care tips, so your vehicle will make it through the season in good condition.

If you aren’t already up to date on your service schedule, get up to date. Oil changes, fluid flushes and battery inspection are all very important to get done before it gets really cold. We also live in an area with heavy snowfall and lots of icy patches, so it is important to consider whether you will need winter tires or if all season tires will be suitable.

When the weather starts to turn cold, it is important to give your car a thorough scrub down. H2WOW Carwash can help you keep your cars in good shape.  The WOW Level wash will provide a protective coat of wax, which is important because it adds an extra layer of protection between your car and road grime. Regularly clean the underside of your car, as salt builds up and can cause rusting.  Our Protect or WOW Level washes rinse mag chloride from the undercarriage of the car and clean any build-up from winter roads.

Remember to keep an eye on your coolant levels and tire pressure. Coolant keeps your car parts from freezing in the winter, so it’s vital to your car’s health.  Cool air decreases tire pressure, so a little extra air might be needed as the temperature drops.

Throughout the season, as snow builds up on your car, keep an eye out for snow covering your headlights and taillights. Being clearly visible and able to see other cars is more important than ever in the winter.  It is also very important to make sure you have an emergency kit filled with things you need, and check on it occasionally to make sure nothing has spoiled and everything is functional.  Click here to check out Colorado Department of Transportation’s recommended emergency items to keep in your car.

Taking extra care of your car in the winter is one of the most important ways you can extend its life, so don’t neglect it!
